How the Grade Predictor works for UK degrees
UK undergraduate degrees are classified, not scored on a GPA. The Grade Predictor reads your work against your marking criteria, or against standard UK grade descriptors if you have none, and shows the band you are on track for, from a First down to a Third.
Taught Master's work is marked differently, with Distinction (70%+), Merit (60-69%) and Pass (50-59%). Pick Master's in step 1 and the result uses that scale.
Working out what you need for a 2:1 or a First
Each result shows how far you are from the next band and the changes that would lift your mark the most, with a realistic mark if you make them. Word limits matter too: tell us yours and we flag work that runs over.
Questions students ask
Is the Grade Predictor free?
Your first 2 checks are free when you sign in. After that, checks come in packs of 10 for £10. Packs never expire and there is no subscription.
How accurate is the prediction?
It is a prediction, not a guarantee, and your tutor's mark can differ. It is most accurate when you upload your marking criteria, then your assignment brief. With your work alone it gives an indicative grade, and every result says which of these it used.
What happens to my files?
We delete your files as soon as your check is finished, unless you tick the box to keep them. Kept files are deleted after a year, or sooner if you delete them from your result page. Your result stays in your account either way. Your files are never added to any plagiarism database.
Which countries and grading scales does it support?
The UK (including Master's Distinction, Merit and Pass), Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia and most of Europe, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and the ECTS scale. Pick your country in step 1 and the result uses its grades.
Do I need to tell you my university?
No, it is optional. Your country and level of study decide the grading scale. Your university's name helps the feedback match its expectations.
What file types can I upload?
Your work as a PDF, Word document (DOC or DOCX) or text file, up to 25 MB. Your brief and marking criteria can also be photos (PNG or JPG).
